Meeting point: Reception of the Galerie des Gobelins

It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes in advance with your reservation form, printed or on your smartphone.

The Gobelins and Beauvais manufactures tapestry using the haute lice and basse lice methods respectively. The Manufacture de la Savonnerie is dedicated to the production of carpets using the haute lice method.

Your guide will take you into the secrets and workshops of the weavers. Visit two of the three workshops still in operation and discover the meticulousness and precision with which those who fashion the most beautiful works for the official palaces work.
A unique visit that lifts the veil on this trade that transforms the hand of man into that of an artist.

The reduced rate applies to: students, under-18s, 18-25 year-olds from the European Union or the European Economic Area, jobseekers, recipients of minimum social benefits, asylum seekers and refugees, holders of the minimum old-age pension, disabled persons holding a disability card or a “priority” card for the disabled, with an accompanying person…

The workshop is a place of work where the need for calm and concentration is necessary. In order to respect image rights, it is strictly forbidden to take photographs of the artists. The tour includes many stairs and paved courtyards, so please avoid wearing heels.

During your guided tour, you will visit 2 of the 3 factories: the Gobelins factory and/or the Beauvais factory and/or the soap factory. Suitcases are neither accepted nor kept because of the Vigipirate plan.

During temporary exhibitions, this visit gives you free access to the exhibition of the moment.

Les Ateliers des Gobelins

The Gobelins enclosure is no less than 80 art technicians, 23,000 shades of colour, 600 appointed custodians of the Republic, about 5 masterful “pieces” that “fall off the loom” each year and 3 factories with unique and traditional weaving know-how that has endured and expanded over the ages.

When to book?

As with any monument, school and summer holidays are very busy. As the number of places per time slot (per guide) is limited, we invite you to book your place as soon as possible for a weekend visit and at least two weeks in advance for a weekday visit.

What are the opening hours?

The workshop is open every Wednesday and the time slots available are 1pm and 5pm.
