Guided tour : The Passages Couverts

Your tour of the Passages Couverts will begin in the garden of the Palais Royal, the residence of the kings of France. You will then take the path of the covered galleries, places of passage where kings and princes once displayed their works of art. A true symbol of a pre-Haussmannian art of living, the Galleries were at that time very fashionable and highly prized. Your guide will not fail to reveal the sumptuous decorations that adorn the Galerie Vero Dodat or the Galerie Vivienne and many others.

Tours of the Passages Couverts are available on Saturdays throughout the year.

Duration: 1h30.

Meeting point: Palais Royal – Musée du Louvre metro station (lines 1 and 7), Place Colette.

It is recommended to arrive 15 minutes in advance with your reservation form, printed or on your smartphone.

Starting from the Palais Royal, your guide will take you to the Vero Dodat gallery, known for its beautiful art bookshops. You will then pass by the Vivienne Gallery, one of the most majestic, which opens onto the Colbert Gallery, where exhibitions are regularly held. You will finish this enchanted interlude by the passage des Panoramas where philatelists will find their happiness, which will lead you to the Grands Boulevards.

Much used in the 19th century to get from the Grands Boulevards to the Palais Royal, the thirty surviving covered passages (once numbering 140) allow you to immerse yourself in a timeless atmosphere, cut off from the hustle and bustle of the street. Today, you can find shops of all kinds, a few cafés and, above all, traces of a recent past where walking and showing off were an essential part of daily life.

In the event of bad weather making the visit impossible, Cultival reserves the right to postpone the visit.
